THE ESTATE

Wonderfontein Wine Estate is located just outside the vibrant country town of Robertson on the famous Route 62. Home to championwines, race horse studs, colourful people and true wine country hospitality.

Our estate is planted to noble vineyards , and we produce a selection of beautiful hand-crafted wines, reflecting the unique terroir of this special area.Wonderfontein also makes the perfect venue for a wine country Wedding or Function, offering expansive lawns, a small chapel, picture perfect views and historical buildings, to name but a few features and attractions.

ABOUT US

Wine farming and winemaking at Wonderfontein Wine Estate is an age-old tradition, dating back to 1884 and is home to the proud Marais legacy.

Wine lovers are invited to savour five generations of progressive winemaking where proprietor Paul Marais,winemaker Stefan Bruwer and their committed teams today produce elegant, hand-crafted table wines, delectable Campanile brandy and complex fortified wines using modern winemaking equipment but with an old-world approach.

Beautifully manicured vineyards are a feast for the eye and our vineyard practices are with a focus on environmentally-friendly viticulture.

We extend a warm invitation to you to visit us on the farm for a personal tasting of our wines!

OUR WINES

Paul René MCC Rosé

a lightly salmon coloured bubbly, refreshing in style and appearance with red, fruity flavours, floral undertones and silky richness.

Sauvignon Blanc

A pleasant, crisp and fruity summer wine. Less zingy and slightly fatter than most, makes for comfortable solo sipping.

Merlot

Soft & Voluptuous with expressive fruit and vanilla charm

Shiraz

Smoky, earthy tones. Rich and full, ending slightly sweet

The Marais Family Merlot

An exceptionally easy drinking, medium bodied wine with a wonderful ripe plum and mulberry centre and a soft, round mouth-feel.

White Muskadel

Sweet fortified white Muscadel partly fermented on the husks to obtain a fuller true cultivar character.

Red Muskadel

Characteristic Muscat flavours mingle beautifully with the taste of sun-dried raisins. Well-contained sweetness, rich caramel and layered complexity.

Paul René MCC

Made from Chardonnay, with up front freshness and a yeasty follow through.
